Our film series for adults returns on Monday, August 22 at 2:00pm in the library's community meeting rooms. The library will show the film A River Runs Through It (1992). The film series will continue every fourth Monday of the month at 2:00pm.

A River Runs Through It is an American drama film directed by Robert Redford and starring Craig Sheffer, Brad Pitt, Tom Skerritt, Brenda Blethyn, and Emily Lloyd. It is based on the 1976 semi-autobiographical novella of the same name by Norman Maclean, adapted for the screen by Richard Friedenberg. Set in and around Missoula, Montana, the story follows two sons of a Presbyterian minister, one studious and the other rebellious, as they grow up and come of age in the Rocky Mountain region during a span of time from roughly World War I to the early days of the Great Depression, including part of the Prohibition era.

Join our film critic, Tom LaVille, for a great discussion after the movie, as well as free popcorn and lemonade. This event is free and open to the public, aged 18 and over. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Marshalltown Public Library.
