This special Beach Party storytime will be held outside on the West Lawn and will feature stories, songs, fingerplays, plus a chance to search on our imaginary beach to find a shell to take home. This storytime will be followed by sprinkler fun, thanks to the Marshalltown Fire Department, for those who want cool off!
In the summer, storytime is geared toward 3-6 years old, but families and all ages of kids who would enjoy the program are welcome. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket or towel to sit on, and lawn chairs are allowed around the edges of the storytime area. Storytime is free and requires no pre-registration (groups wanting to bring more than 8 kids are asked to call 641-754-5738, ext. 3 to check for options). Balance boards, hula hoops, and other active toys are available before and after storytime for kids to play with.
A free sack lunch (for ages 1-18 years, as supplies last) will be available through the Marshalltown School District's summer lunch program, for an after-storytime picnic on (a dry zone on) the lawn.
