Event Details

Buggy Books storytime will be held outside on the West Lawn (rain or excessive heat location: large meeting room, if available). Books, songs, and stories about all kinds of insects---just in time for ISU Insect Zoo, with all kinds of amazing insects from around the world, which will visit the library on Thursday, June 30 for an open house in the large meeting room, open to the public, from 11:00-12:30 pm

Storytime features stories, songs, fingerplays, and hands-on activities. In the summer, storytime is geared toward 3-6 years old, but families and all ages of kids who would enjoy the program are welcome. Families are encouraged to bring a blanket or towel to sit on, and lawn chairs are allowed around the edges of the storytime area. Storytime is free and requires no pre-registration (groups wanting to bring more than 8 years old are asked to call the library at 641-754-5738, ext. 3 to check for options.) Balance boards, hula hoops, and other active toys are available before and after storytime for kids to play with.

A free sack lunch (for ages 1-18 years) is available, as supplies last, through the Marshalltown School District's summer lunch program, for an after-storytime picnic on the lawn.
