Our film series for adults continues on Monday, October 23 at 2:00pm in the library's community meeting rooms. The library will show the film Teacher's Pet (1958). The film series will continue every fourth Monday of the month at 2:00pm.

Teacher's Pet is a 1958 American romantic comedy film directed by George Seaton, and starring Clark Gable, Doris Day, Gig Young, and Mamie Van Doren. Newspaper editor Jim Gannon (Clark Gable) doesn't have much respect for college journalism programs, so he's irate when his boss sends him to speak at a night-school class. Despite clashing with instructor Erica Stone (Doris Day), Jim falls for the attractive teacher. He decides to join the class under an assumed identity, and the two begin a flirtatious relationship. When Jim's girlfriend, Peggy DeFore (Mamie Van Doren), catches wind of the situation, however, she's none too pleased.

Join our film critic, Tom LaVille, for a great discussion after the movie, as well as free popcorn and lemonade. This event is free and open to the public, aged 18 and over. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Marshalltown Public Library.
