The library is hosting a free mending clinic on Saturday, June 1 from 1:00-4:30pm in the library's community meeting rooms. The Central Iowa chapter of the American Sewing Guild will be here to mend items for members of the public.
Get your worn, torn, or ill-fitting clothes fixed. Sewing Guild members will patch knees, stitch rips, replace missing buttons, hem pants, repair seams, and more. All items must be clean and laundered. There are some repairs that are beyond the scope of what guild members can do during this clinic (i.e. fitting a formal dress). No appointment necessary--just walk in with your item to be mended.
The Central Iowa Chapter of the American Sewing Guild are dynamic sewists who inspire, teach, and share. Individuals of all sewing levels and generations participate in the Central Iowa ASG. They enjoy sewing for fashion, for function, for themselves, families, friends and community.
This clinic is free and open to the public. Donations to the library will be accepted for those that are able to contribute. For more information, please visit the library's website at www.marshalltownlibrary.org or call the library's Information Desk at 641-754-5738 ext. 4.
