Rosie the Riveter was a name used to encourage women to go to work in factories and other businesses during WWII. They needed to take the place of the men who were fighting the war. Iowa had 70 businesses that used women to meet production of military needs. Linda was able to speak with 35 women who worked as Rosie's during the war. Some worked in Iowa and others went to the West Coast. She shares their experiences during her presentation.

In addition to Rosie the Riveters in Iowa, McCann is the author of the Iowan books' Lost County series in which she explores the towns, institutions, and other history that may have been forgotten in counties across Iowa as well as several other books about topics in Iowa history. Many of her books can be found in the Marshalltown Public Library’s collection.
