The youth department at the library is once again hosting in-person field trips for our EMERGE program, where each 6th grade student from Lenihan benefits from a monthly field trip to the public library. These visits will ONLY take place on Tuesdays (multiple classes scheduled throughout the school day) and students will be required to wear masks. Students will be using the blue activity room as well as browsing in the youth and teen areas and all check-out will take place at the youth desk.

This program is an important mainstay of connecting youth with all the public library has to offer and has had a strong impact on sharing the library with the community in an equitable way.

Out of respect for concerns that some library users may have about vistiing the library or the youth department when a large group of youth will be visiting (usually in “double” classes, with more than 50 students), the library is posting the general times (specific times may vary by classes) on the community calendar so the general public will be able to make an informed choice about visiting the library onTuesdays.

All other group program going on this fall will either be outside, or in a meeting room (with masks required for group programs, as long as the CDC advises.)
