Gary Powers, Jr. will be at the library for a presentation about his father's experience during the Cold War on Tuesday, August 2 at 2:00pm in the library's community meeting rooms.
One of the most talked about incidents of the Cold War was the downing of the American U-2 spy plane piloted by Francis Gary Powers, Sr. on May 1, 1960.
Gary Powers, Jr. is an international lecturer (as seen on C-SPAN, History, Discovery, and A&E channels), author, and son of Gary Powers Sr. Gary Powers Jr. is the author of Spy Pilot: Francis Gary Powers, the U-2 incident, and a Controversial Cold War Legacy, as well as two other books Letters from a Soviet Prison (2017) and Enemy Territory (2022).
