Come together to create your own Catrina in the artistic style of Mexican artist, Claudia Navarro, illustrator of the bilingual picture book, La Divina Catrina. PLUS local Latina artist, Bertha Medina, will show how she creates her Catrina art, from a paper mache process that is inexpensive and easy for families to do at home (for catrinas, piñatas, or other creations) plus make a small self-standing Catrina to take home. This program will include bilingual instruction, and hands-on help from Spanish-speaking teen volunteers.
Face paints & stickers will be available for those who choose to decorate their faces, catrina-style. Plus, hands-on help in how anyone with a Marshalltown library card can use our new online (activation coming soon) resource, Make Make, to read eBooks in Spanish on their own devices at home, at school, or on-the-go!
This free, hands-on program is for children 8 years through teen, or younger children with a caregiver (register the caregiver's name and add the younger children's names and ages in the notes). Pre-registration requested; walk-ins allowed as space permits.
